(Pick-up in Sumter, then Darlington with an estimated travel time of 6 ½ hours including a lunch/rest-stop) Drive to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and attend an evening performance of the Roanoke Colony mystery.

Lost Colony Mystery Show: Arrive before 7:30 P.M. to tour grounds before entering at 8:30 – 10:45 P.M. to fully experience the show.

Overnight: Check into hotel before dinner: Quality Inn Carolina Oceanfront.

Begin travel at 9:00 A.M.

(Pick-up directly from Quality Inn hotel after breakfast –Drive to Yorktown/Jamestown Settlement/ Williamsburg area with an estimated travel time of 2 ½ hours.

Lunch 11:45 pm: Jamestown Settlement Café.

Tour 12:30 – 5:00 P.M.: Following lunch, self-guided tour of both the Yorktown American Revolution Museum and Jamestown Settlement.

Dinner: Dinner at Embassy Suites Williamsburg Hotel.

Overnight: Check into hotel before dinner: Embassy Suites Williamsburg Hotel.

Begin Travel at 8:00 A.M.

Pick-up directly from Embassy Suites Hotel after breakfast.

Drive to Philadelphia with an estimated travel time of 5½ hours. Upon arrival in downtown Philadelphia, we will have a two hour self-guided walking tour of Independence Square* and at 4:00 pm participants will take bus (meet at Liberty Bell for pick-up) to dinner on their own.

Lunch Stop while traveling: Box lunch option (to be eaten at rest stop when driver needs break and combined with restroom break).

Tour 2:00 P.M.: Historic Walking Tour (self-guided) of the Independence Square/National Historic Park.

Dinner: Choose dinner on your own at Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market, which closes at 6:00 pm (you will be reimbursed $25 for this meal). Reading Market is one of the oldest and largest public markets in America, and closes at 6:00 pm.

Overnight: Check into hotel after dinner: Embassy Suites Philadelphia Airport.

*Independence Square includes free access/self-guided tours of Liberty Bell/Liberty Bell Center, City Tavern, Congress Hall, Franklin Court Printing Office, Great Essential Exhibit, Independence Visitor Center, President’s House Site, Washington Square, and Signers Garden.

Begin Travel at 9:00 A.M.

(Pick-up directly from hotel after breakfast) Drive to the National Constitution Center.

Tour 10:00 A.M.: National Constitution Center is the only museum devoted to the U.S. Constitution.

Lunch at 12:30 P.M.: National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Independent Time/Structured Free Time from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M.: During this time, Emily and Jennifer will consult with history faculty and grant participants to determine additional sites or free tours to see/do before leaving Philadelphia for Annapolis.

DEPART Philadelphia by 3:00 P.M. for 2 hour drive to Annapolis.

Overnight: Check into hotel at 5:00 P.M., Crown Plaza Annapolis.

Dinner: on your own in Annapolis (you will be reimbursed $25 for this meal).

Begin Travel at 9:00 A.M.

(Pick-up from hotel after breakfast) Drive to Maryland Statehouse for a one-hour tour beginning at 9:30 A.M. After tour, begin drive to Darlington and Sumter, with an estimated travel time of 6½ hours.

Tour: Maryland Statehouse for a one-hour tour.

Lunch: Cracker Barrel en route.

6:30 – 7:00 P.M.: Arrive back at Sumter and Darlington Schools.
