What are you most proud of in your professional life so far?

The ability to work with other educators to deepen their knowledge in the areas of literacy to then impart that knowledge to our students. Additionally being a continuous student myself in seeking to deepen my learning and studies.

What are your greatest strengths and your biggest weaknesses as an educator?

My greatest strength is my love of learning. Both the learning of myself but for teachers and students as well. I always think of the quote by Yeates stating that “education isn’t filling a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” A weakness is that I’m always looking at how I can do something better and get caught up in the details.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love reading, traveling and spending time with my family.

America: A Story That Must Not Be Forgotten is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Education.
